    Hi all!

I am a new member here on SP, but I've been reading posts here for quite some time.

    I am starting a new game (for the 100:th or so time) and this time I really want to have a "banter active" party. This is the basic party composition;

PC (undead hunter or berserker/druid depending on slot 2)
Jaheira/Keldorn/Mazzy (she will be SK:d to an undead hunter if I take her)
Minsc (as a barbarian, which I feel is his true class)
    Haer'Dalis
    Jan (as a fighter/wild mage/thief)
    Aerie

As you can see, I am sure I want the last 4, but am having a hard time deciding who fits in best (banterwise), Jaheira, Keldorn or Mazzy. I think I have heard somewhere that Keldorn, Haer'Dalis and Jan have good banter, but I'm not sure if I remember correctly. What is your experience?

    Thanks in advance!
(PS. Please excuse spelling and/or grammar mistakes, english is not my first language.)

Jaheira would be my answer. Keldorn does have a good amount of banter, but I feel that Jaheira is one of the most vocals npcs. She also has a little larger quest that the Keldorn's one, and she has the whole romance plot, but that is probably not what you are looking for, seeing that you are already taking Arie.

I actually did some research on the subject lately, so I've got numbers for this.

Jaheira will contribute 7 banters to this party in SoA and 1 in ToB (w/Jan). Additional 4 banters with the PC if you can't (not don't, but can't) romance her, or however many romance banters you take her through.

Keldorn will contribute 14 banters in SoA (9 of which are with Minsc, some on special conditions) and 3 in ToB. One additional banter with the PC in SoA (with a couple more dependant on your rep), and another in ToB.

Mazzy will contribute 8 banters in SoA and 3 in ToB. One additional banter with the PC in ToB (with 4 rep-dependant banters in SoA).

Keldorn's the clear winner, here, though you'll have to get Minsc killed at least once and use his Berserk ability every once in a while in order to see them all. You should also get Aerie killed at least once after Minsc takes her as his witch to see those. Hope I didn't spoil anything. :)

And BTW, your english is better than most native english speakers. ;)

 That comes as a big surprise for me.

I can already hear Keldorn saying: Minsc could you die for a while so we can have one last talk. It’ll be instructive, I promise! :D

One item of note is that Jaheira has the most banter with non-party npc's. She'll contribute more often (i.e., butt in) to your conversations with others.

If you can romance both Aerie and Jaheira, the number of interactions greatly increase. Especially with HD in the mix. Just as a side note you will either give up your romance with Aerie or lose HD (and possibly Aerie)... but that won't be a problem if you side with Jaheira.

Other than romance, the big four combo for banter is Anomen-Minsc-Jan-Keldorn. Those four have more conversation than any others (if you play a female, she can also have the Anoman romance banter) and it's quite funny.

I especially enjoy Jan's comments after being raised when Keldorn is present.

That's probably true, given her attitude. (And I'm not about to check every dialogue file in the game for interjections. ;) )

And T2 reminds me of the fact that one of the banters with Jan also requires the gnome to die. So I'd suggest making sure everybody dies at least once (except the PC, of course), just to make sure you don't miss anything.

Wait a minute. So you're saying that the banters get better if an NPC dies, and gets resurrected?? That's news to me, and good to know. :)

Not better, more. A few banters are only triggered by NPC death or ressurrection. If it doesn't happen, you don't see those.

Thanks, especially to you Felinoid for the very informative answer (and the kind comment about my english :) )

I think I have decided to go with Keldorn, since he obviously has a lot of banter, and the fact that I have both Jaheira and Mazzy in my current party (on another computer).

I have never heard any of the banters characters have after they have been resurrected, so I will have to remember to get every party member killed at one time or another (muahaha)! :p
