    1. I know that cleric can wear an armour and cast cleric spells but not mage spells. Does this mean that w/o an armour, cleric can also write a scroll?

    2. I observed that a cleric at level 5 has only spells at levels 1 and 2 to cast.

    3. Mages may write scrolls ahead but they only can cast spells 2 levels lower.

    4. SP's IWD solution posted a mod to allow cleric/mage to write/cast spells at level 8 and 9. Is this mod still necessary, I have IWDs the ultimate collection?

1)Clerics do not write scrolls. They learn their spells directly from their god when they lvl up enough. They can use clerical scrolls though, put the scroll to quick item slot and use from there!

2)This is wrong. He should be able to cast 3rd lvl spells as well! Check the lvl and priest scroll again.

3)Huh? Sorry I did not quite get the question. :(

4)No, your game is perfect already. ;) Clerics are still limited to 7th lvl spells though, mages can now enjoy world shaking power of 8th-9th lvl spells!

    Thank you for excellent answers.

About my questions #2 and #3:

cleric at level 6 but she has no spell at level 4 and up.

invoker at level 5 but no mem slot at level 4 and up.

fighter/mage 5/4 also has no mem slot from 3 and up.

In the back of the manual there are tables where you can see which spells casters can cast at which level.

You roughly get a new spell level after every two levels.

Mages get 2nd lvl spells at lvl 3, 3th at lvl 5, 4th at lvl 7, 5th at lvl 9, then there is a slight gap, 6th at lvl 12, 7th at lvl 14, 8th at lvl 16 and finally, 9th at lvl 18! (at 3 million XP points, double this amount for multi classes! )

Priest share a similiar advancement:2nd lvl spells at lvl 3, 3rd at lvl 5, 4th at lvl 7, 5th at lvl 9, 6th at lvl 11, and the gap comes here, 7th at lvl 14. Lvl 7 is the maximum casting lvl for priests.

Bards on the other hand follow a very different and chaotic spell casting pattern, though they are able to cast 8th lvl spells eventualy at very high lvls (talking about lvl 25+ here)

Did Druids use cleric chart or the original druid chart from D&D rules? Gotta check...EDIT:it seems they use clerical progression, oh well...

Paladins and Rangers can also cast spells after certain levels, though they can never be as proficient as clerics.

Hope this helps. Check your manual when you are confused, the spell casting-experience-hit dice and saving throws tables should come pretty handy on monitoring and planning the advancement of your heroes!

EDIT:Check this page also, for details.
