I haven't played in three years and I need to know how to hack the .ini file to enable cheats and access the CLUA console ( can't remember the key combo that brings up said console ) can't find it on this site but I'm using an I-Phone now and that may be why please help your old pal LKD!

[IMG] In Vista or Windows 7 installed into Program Files you will probably find it easier to edit the .ini in the Compatability Files area instead.

IIRC the ini will be different depending on your install path as well as game version so just replacing yours with someone else's likely wouldn't work. Closely following the instructions linked above is your best bet.

If you are still having trouble, could you please tell us what operating system you are using?
I can give step-by-step instructions on how to add
    Debug Mode=1
    to the [Program Options]
    section of baldur.ini
If it's XP or earlier, it's probably located in
    c:bad:program files\Black Isle\BGII - SoA
If it is Vista or later the location depends on whether you are using 32 or 64 bit Windows. You might also have to edit two different files.
In 32-bit Windows, it would be in the same place.
In 64-bit Windows, it would probably be found in
    c:bad:program files (x86)\black isle\BGII - SoA
    Note the extra (x86)
    Also, in Vista or 7
You might have to edit a copy of the file in your local directory in something called a "Virtual Store".
Find it by typing the following into Windows Explorer. Note the % signs:

    %localappdata%\VirtualStore

In there you should find a mirror of \program files (x86) and in there another copy of baldur.ini. Edit that one too in the exact same way.

In any case, for all configurations simply add
    Code:
    Debug Mode=1
    under the line that says
    Code:
    Program Options
    Then save it.

In the case of Vista and later, you will probably have to run Notepad as the administrator . Once you've started Notepad as an admin, use the Open command from the file menu to locate and open Baldur.ini
That might be the reason you are having trouble, as if you do not do it this way, Windows will not let you save the changes, and might "forget" to tell you it didn't save them.

I don't know if it was the version of windows I was using or if it is a quirk of the new EE but when I brought up the Baldur.ini up in word pad or note pad the list came up horizontally rather than vertically. This makes it much harder to correctly place the debug code into it since it is no longer vertical like the directions would indicate.

It sounds like a line break error.
Are you sure you were using Wordpad and not Notepad?
Wordpad is usually good at recognizing "foreign" line breaks, but if you can't get it to display properly trying both Wordpad and Notepad, try opening it in a real word processor like Microsoft Word or Open Office Writer (I have no idea how Works handles this.).
Then the easiest way to handle this if you still have the admin version of Notepad/Wordpad running is to paste it in and overwite the existing one after making changes.
