Coke on keyboard

I managed to spill coke on my keyboard. For the first time in my life.

How should I go about cleaning the dried coke?

First things I did were to flip over the keyboard, disconnect it from the computer on-the-fly and leave it on a towel to dry for around 12-15 hours. I tested it first thing in the morning, and all keys function, now the problem is just cleaning it.

And any other advice for the same situation in the future?

Isopropyl alcohol should help cleaning the whole keyboard without fear of damaging it. Damp a lint-free cloth with it to rub the outside, and use cotton buds for the spaces in between the keys.

Advice for the future? Get a waterproof keyboard. :p

You probably should have rinsed it with clean water before letting it dry. Now there's dry, sticky, sugary junk left behind.

I'm going to dismantle it anyway, I'm actually thinking of modding it a bit.

Dismantling a keyboard is nothing new to me seeing our cats keep walking on the keyboards, so they're often full of hair.

And I should waterproof this keyboard, not get a waterproof keyboard, seeing they don't have Office Comfort as waterproof at any sensible price.
