We installed DSL a few days ago, and since then our computer games have been minimizing every couple of minutes during gameplay, destroying the continuity of the game and our ability to concentrate on it. I've tried several games that use different engines--PS:T, IWD, Morrowind--with the same effect continuing to occur.

Any idea what's causing it, and how to stop it?

It's the DSL software that keeps demanding attention from Windows,
Try to torch the guy who sold you that junk.

Thanks, Morgoth. But is there anything to be done about it? The speed of DSL is really nice; the modem was painfully slow, and frequently worse than slow. But we sure don't enjoy the continuity of our games being trashed. Can the software be modified so this doesn't happen? We're probably not adept enough to do it, but we know people who likely could, if that's a solution.

Have you tried getting an updated driver?

Hardware is rarely shipped with the latest drivers or software. :rolling:

It could be as simple as it trying to get updates oir something equally stupid. Go through the various options. There must be an auto-update or auto-refresh option. Or you may have selected an option to be informed of everytime any program tries to connect to the net.
Take you time going through it and disable such tricks.

A friend of my daughter's who's computer literate has followed your suggestions and we're going to try installing a network card to see if this will fix it. I'll post how this works out.

EDIT: I'd like to say we did something brilliant, or at least sensible, to fix this problem, but the fact is that it just went away. I doubt if the solution to most problems is to do nothing, but it seems to have worked here.
