Corthala Family Armor and Mages!

    [​IMG] I am playing an Elvin Thief/Mage,With the HLA UAI. While goofing around I put on the Corthala Family Armor after giving Valygar the White Dragon Scale Armor, and I noticed I could still cast wizard spells while wearing it. I was wondering, has anyone else has seen this happen?

    Baldurdash TOB fixpack fixes this. (Doesn't G3's BG2 fixpack also fix it, Cam?)

    The armor is buggy. My human NG C/M was able to wear it and still be able to cast mage spells:he had enough stats to subsitute Valygar, and personality/race matched. :p

    Yes, but Baldurdash ruins - I mean *fixes* it so that only Valygar can wear it. It was only wearable by multiclassed mages, not dual. IIRC, this fix also includes Keldorn's armor.

    It can be fixed...to a point. But nothing can compensate for UAI.

    I really don't understand why it needs to be 'fixed'. The Corthala Family is filled with wizards and fighters. The armor is listed as chain. So why can't it be elven chainmail? Or would that make too much sense?

    From the description:

    "As it is specially fitted for Valygar, few other than he may wear it."

    There are two possibilities here:
    1) Multiclassed mages coincidentally always have the exact same body shape as Valygar, but no other classes do.
    2) It's an error.

    Which makes too much sense, again?

    It has been some time, I can not recall if my PC was human C14/M or HE C/M (I had played with both), and I haven't tried the armor ever since I got a mod-maniac. I have baldurdash fixes too (naturally) so it fixes it right? Gotta check soon.

    Yes, Fixpack alters it so that arcane spells can not be cast while it's worn.

    There was a lengthy debate on exactly what type of armor it is. It's very likely bogstandard chain (setting aside that stalkers can not actually wear chain, of course). :) It uses the equipping sound and avatar graphics of leather, but the base AC and AC bonuses are that of chain/elven chain. However, it lacks the thieving skill penalties present in every other set of elven chain. There are also smaller differences in the item file that strongly suggest regular chain instead of the elven variant.
