Could someone recommend some good FR books?

See topic...I know RA Salvatore is good, but there's SO many titles...I dunno where to start. So if someone who's read the stuff could tell me where the series starts...I'd get the books and start reading...

    So...leave your posts...

This post belongs in the Book Talk forum. But to answer your question, I'd recommend starting with the Dark Elf Trilogy, then Icewind Dale Trilogy, etc. until you read all the drizzt books. If you don't want Drizzt, you could (and should) read the Avatar series. They give you a great deal of info about Faerun and its pantheon. Those books and the Cleric Quintet (Salvatore)are pretty much the only good FR books.

Though I've not read them myself, I hear that Elaine Cunningham's FR novels are quite good, arguably better than Salvatore. This is based on hearsay, however.

*Flies in to make the same comment he make in every one of those threads*

If you're going to read Drizzt, just read the Dark Elf Trilogy. The rest of it is crap.

The Avatar trilogy looks good, though I've only actually read Tantras.

Darkwalker on Moonshea (or something to that effect) is quite alright, as I remember it.
