Crashing when starting?

    I have the origianl IWD, and I have a prob. I have tried reinstalling 3 times, but it always crashes when I start it. It goes through the intros, and I see the opening screen for a sec and it crashes to desktop. any Ideas? (I have 1.06 installed)

    Which os are you using? And what kind of gfx card? And to top it off, what do you have the settings in the .ini file set to?

    I've played it with a voodoo2, geforce2, matrox millenium2, and a 2meg laptop neomagic card on varying systems. The game is rock solid, and will crank on nearly any computer setup.

    Sorry, but on my system the game is definitely not rock solid (BGI and BG2 as well as torment most definitely are !)
    I Suspect that a combination with some motherboards and a AMD Athlon processor in combination with a 32Mb Geforce2 videocard does cause some minor problems that will make your IWD crash (Or not start at all !) :(
    In my case it realyy helped to download the latest motherboard driver as well as the latest driver for you video card.
    Also try to configure the game a little bit lower than your system is about. I took the graphics-node one step down. Maybe that'll help.

    It doesn't give any error. It just crashes to desktop. I'm using Windows 98 SE with Riva TNT 2 and Intel P3.

    Well, I'd have to think your video card/vid drivers are the primary suspect. Are you playing OpenGL or software mode on that TnT?
