[IMG] For my next run through I intend to make a party of critters by changing the appearance of the normal characters into monsters etc using SK.

    Suggested party:
Werewolf: startd as a monk and just left unarmed
    Sirine: thief mage using bows
Liche/Baelnorn: main magic user (not sure of a weapon for him yet)
Dark Planetar: fighter cleric using longswords (using a tweak)
Gauth: really not sure how i would go about creating a gauth with all of the innate abilities so any help would be great.
Slayer: probably with some form of weapon as I already have an unarmed attacker.

Any help with what weapons to use, innate abilities, other critters to consider using or any general comments on playability and appearance would be extremely helpful.
Any links to portraits for these kind of critters would also be very helpful.

PS: sounds are not a problem as I almost always listen to my cd player when playing one of these games.

To find portraits you could check NWN, there are many pictures you could use once you resize them to fit in BG.

I'm not sure about that, but I do believe you will run into many problems regarding equipment... If the critter doesn't have an animation corresponding to the item equipped it may cause some crashes. I never tried and it's more of an uneducated guess. Anyway that's a crazy/weird idea and I like it, let us know how it works out!

You *could* just use shapeshifter to get the werewolf. Might be easier.

For the other characters, just cheat monsters into your group with ctrl + Q, that's a lot of fun :D

I have had a bit of a play around with it and it seems that the lack of weapon animations for some monsters do not affect the game what so ever. I am currently playing around with a cleric of lathander in the shape of a slayer. He is wielding a morning star and has a large shield but his attacks look like the normal slayer attacks which is perfectly fine by me.

I still havent found any good portraits for these guys yet. There were a few on the NWN site but when I tried to resize them, they because squashed as the aspect ratios between nwn and bg are different.

After playing around for a while I have decided on a final party which consists of:
    Werewolf monk
Dark planetar Inquisitor (yes I know the dark planetar is evil but I like the looks of it better than the good one)
    Sirine arcane archer
    Slayer cleric of lathander
Female drow thief (the more animated version)
    Lich wild mage

They all have suitable weapons and I am not too worried about innate abilities but I anyone knows of any portraits for the werewolf, dark planetar or the slayer (or similar looking demon) can you please point me in the right direction towards these portraits. Also, if anyone has any suggestions one other possibilities for characters, please post them.

    Cheers

    @ Trellheim
The reason I didnt ctrl-q them into my party is that they would not be able to gain experience and would become fodder to stronger creatures as the game wears on. The only way to stop that would be to give them a class which means I would end up exactly where I am now.

Hmmm. Another variation that I have been thinking of is an Elminster, Drizzt, Bodhi, Irenicus, Ellesime, Melissan or Sarevok (the more animated version) party. Has anyone ever tried a party like this or does anyone know of the appropriate stats for these characters?

I believe I have portraits for Drizzt, Bodhi and Jonny and Sarevok is standard but I havent seen any for the rest.

Any help would be muchly appreciated.

    Edit:
After looking around on the net for a while, I came across all of the portraits that I was missing except for a portrait for Elminster. Does anyone have one for him?

Edit2: Having serious issues with the Drizzt character. Everytime I try to equip him with a weapon the game shuts down. Would anyone hapen to know how to solve this?

There's an intersting theme idea! Shapeshifter, druids, mages with polymorph self and shapechange, someone else with cloak of the sewer, and leave them all in non-human mode for as much time as possible :)

What you need is that insane girl in the asylum that takes the form of other people. :p

That would be interesting. But I am still resolute in geting all of the bugs out of the party that I mentioned in my last post even though I have no idea how to get the Drizzt character to work.

About Drizzt, it's because he uses the same sprites he had in BG1. And even so, he has weapons already via the sprite. So, you cannot make him dual wield anything. Also, try to give him only one weapon an see how stupid it looks like. What he had in game was actually an invisible, custom weapon with no animations at all. Perhaps you could give it to your character with Shadowkeeper. Just open the real Drizzt's file, double click on the weapon, close only the Drizzt character and not the items, open up your own character, select his weapon slot, take up the item menu you already had open (do not double click your character's item slot) and then click [assign to (Charater Name)]

    Hope that helps.
