[IMG] Should I forge the Crom Fayer Hammer. I mean it's a +5 weapon but...Here are my *thougths* :

Before I start I must say that I plan Anomen to use the Hammer.

    BEFORE CROM FAYER:

Keldorn wears the Girdle of Frost Giant Strength and has To hit:+4 , to Damage:+9

Anomen wears the Gauntlets of Ogre Power and has To hit:+3 , to Damage:+6

    AFTER CROM FAYER:

Keldorn statistics drop, because the strength drops. To Hit:+1 , to Damage:+1

Anomen raises but not that much: To Hit:+4+7 , to Damage:+14.
He also gets an improvement of 4 in his Thac0,because he has Grand Mastery with War Hammer and because he has now a +5 weapon equipped. (Previously he had the +3 mace Sculcrasher or something like that)

NOW: Should I forge The HAMMER or no and why?

I would say yes you should go ahead and forge it. There are other strength enhancing belts that you can give Keldorn.

I agree with JSBB. Just forge it.

First of all, do you really NEED Crom Fayer for Sir Anomen? He gets a rediculously large number of spells to throw about. I dont think you will run out of DUHMs for you to require the 25Str from the hammer.
It really depends on how many of your charecters will need the added boost to strength from the items. If you dont have a lot of frontline melee fighters, the effective loss of 1 item wont matter.
Not to mention your PC will probably get extra Str during the Hell Trials.

This is a list of Str enhancing items and where you get them. I have not included other weapons.
Gauntlets of Ogre Power :18/00 - Planar Sphere
Girdle of Hill Giant Strength :19 - Adventurer's Mart (buy)
Girdle of Stone Giant Strength :20 - Suldanessar
Girdle of Frost Giant Strength :21 - Underdark
Girdle of Fire Giant Strength :22 - Yaga Shura's Lair

Now you decide. Since you are going into ToB, my advice: Go for it.

Huh? Only is he follows the evil path, which I can't see with a party that includes Keldorn...

    My bad.
If you are a mage you should probably Get the Revised Hell Trials mod, just for that one tear.

I used to have Anomen use Crom Faeyr all the time. Now I use a different approach.

I have him use the Flail of Ages. When he hits his 24th level, he'll get the Holy Symbol of Lathander that brings his strength to 19. In short, he'll have great strength and the slowing power of the Flail to boot. It's like having your cake and eating it as well.

And of course, Keldorn will rock with Carsomyr plus a strength belt of his own.

My PC is a multi classed fighter/mage with a strength of 18/86. I have him used the Celestial fury (main hand) and the Equalizer (off hand) and in ToB I intend to replace the Katana with the Flail of Ages +5....So I think the Crom Fayer will stay with Anomen.

Now, Keldorn will swing the Holy Avenger for most of the Game but.....is it better to use the Rune Hammer in ToB???

Basically, no. I generally have the same person equipped with Crom Faeyr use the Runehammer, as it is rare for me to have two characters specialized in war hammer use. Runehammer goes into a second weapon slot, and I switch to it whenever I'm fighting undead, espeically undead with level drain. Otherwise, I'll stick to Crom Faeyr. Since you haven't got to ToB yet you can't possibly know this, but every character will have a +4 or +5 (and possibly even +6) by the end of the game. Many weapons will become superfulous, or just have very specific uses (like against undead).

I usually have the same character (a warrior-type) specialize in both axes and hammers. Axe of the Unyielding goes in main hand. Crom is in off hand. When I fight undead, Runehammer goes to the main hand. I don't think having Runehammer in hand at all times is useful, and Axe of the Unyielding is a better general purpose.

For me, Crom Fayer goes to any fighter in my group except Keldorn. Valygar, Minsc and especially Korgan work very well with the hammer in off-hand.

CF effectively neutralizes all dual-wielding penalties with the strength bonus, giving you a free extra attack (with massive, massive damage bonuses). Offhand it, with FoA in the regular slot. Heck, this even lets Aerie become a melee force.

Buy the hill giant belt for Keldorn, or give him the stone one from Suldanesselar.
