[IMG] Assuming that one of the first things you do is to pick a fight with Mencar Pebblecrusher and his goons, you can pick up a +3 two-handed sword almost immediately, namely the Cursed Sword of Berserking. Has anybody out there been so reckless as to equip it and use it? Is the effect the same as a berserker rage, or do you simply lose control of one of your characters every time there's a fight?

Doesn't the character go berserk when he equips the weapon and then remains in that state until a remove curse spell is cast?

I've never used it, but it could maybe be useful when you are in a big fight and you need the extra power.

I think the berserking just means you lose control, I don't think it's like (en)rage or anything.

From reading this post by Veras, apparently you lose control, as Menion Leah says. Minsc was attacking Yoshi.

I used the sword for a while.

What it does is exactly the same as Minsc's Berserk ability (like when Aerie get's attacked, if you keep her for longer than 1.0005248 seconds that is), every time you enter combat.

So usually, since Minsc (the one I give the sword to) starts next to another player, he as a chance of attacking them instead of the enemy, it is still a good sword if you don't mind using the +9 Key Of Quickloading every so often.

Of course, if you have a better sword, you should use that, only problem is it takes remove curse to un-equip the sword.

Once combat ends, your berserking character will automatically resume normal state, allthough I have experienced a short delay with this, and if another character returns the attack they will continue to fight until you order them to stop.

Heh, Pebblecrusher. Actually at early levels this can be a tricky fight.

Edit: Whoops, changed Enrage to Berserk, my bad.

Pick it, sell it for 200, and forget it. Useless trinket.

I am tempted to give it to my bard every time. Just to see what it does for his worth in a meele.
But I just cant bring myself to endanger him in this manner. HP doesnt pose a great problem, but his high AC - and there is no way to get him out of the thick of things while he has foam around his mouth.
Somehow I dont think its a good idea to have him jump on each and every enemy we encounter.

Same here, used it in maybe 2 fights but couldn't be bothered Removing Curse every time so I just carried it for a while until I found the highest price for it. Can't remember where that was though, maybe somewhere in ToB.

I use the sword just for a short amount of time. I really just do it given the swords rather horrific history back in Naskel (from the first Baldur's Gate).

Captain Brage was given the sword and shortly put it to use in battle. The sword consumed him and he ended up slaughting numerous civilians - including his wife and children.

It's quite good if you're soloing, and espesially if you are in the wild, apart from non-hostile creatures.

And it looks darn cool too... :D

Nice weapon, although I've never really used it.
Might be a nice thing to bribe enemy group's leader with it, and look what it does.. :D Unfortunately this is possible only on PnP games.

Seems to me everyone whos used it has given it to Minsc, myself included. I guess it just fits in with his nature. Works fine if u sent Minsc ahead to scout out the place, or have been bestowed with that most powerful of magics Ctrl+R

Anyway, this battle is so tough I don't think you can get it "almost immediately".
