Just looking through the licenses and without the D&D license, NWN can not be published. Outch. This is copied and pasted from the license.

"You may not use the d20 System License or the d20 System Logo in conjunction with any product that meets the definition of an "Interactive Game" as defined in this Guide."

 "Interactive Game": means a piece of computer gaming software that is designed to accept inputs from human players or their agents, and use rules to resolve the success or failure of those inputs, and return some indication of the results of those inputs to the users.

Painful to read...hopefully things get cleared up.

[IMG] Of course there is no other way for it to be published than a full D&D game. Desslock is an idiot for even suggesting it. Let's start with the name that couldn't be used (Neverwinter being a city in the Forgotten Realms), then the whole story which centers on the city of Neverwinter, its famous persons (like Lord Nasher), then Khelben (who is supposed to ward off the plague), then entire land the story is happening in (Forgotten Realms), then all of the spells which have appeared in any of the manuals, all weapons, equipment, some bits of the rules which the engine utilizes, monsters etc etc.

In other words, another idiotic idea by Desslock, a man who has more time to write 10 page articles than to educate himself on what he's writing about.

BioWare will have to reach an agreement with Interplay, one way or another. And since they need each other, that shouldn't be too hard. It's clear that Interplay (even with the recent cash injection) needs BioWare for the money Neverwinter Nights will bring in, and it's also quite clear that BioWare needs Interplay for the D&D license without which there is no way the game will ever ship.
