[IMG] Now here's a possibility...you dual a wiz slayer and a thief and when you get high enough you choose the thief pool ability=> Use any item. What then? Wiz Slayers using magical items. What are your thoughts on this?

    [IMG] Hmm, tricky.

I think it's an instance of exploiting a flaw in the game, but then again I'm baffled - yes that's it, baffled - by the Use Any Item ability; it should IMHO not have been included.

Does it actually work? I think it shouldn't because a fighter/cleric and a fighter/mage both can use all items that fighters can use. But the fighter/cleric cannot use bladed weapons because clerics can never use them. On the basis of that example, the use any itemer/wizardslayer should be able to use all items except the ones wizard slayers cannot normally use...

Its use "any" item for a reason, but really whats the point of DCing a wizard slayer to a thief. Not a very fun combination by any stretch of the imagination but its not an exploit. You're a child of a god normal rules need not apply.

[IMG] I tried out this combinattion before I decided it's not worth all the effort. The reason is that for ToB you'd like to have a higer level fighter for the enemies there are quite powerful - I dualled my wiz-slayer @ lvl-13 to thief and to that point I could't use the neat things like Ring of Gaxx, strength girdles and so on .... nothing for me I think.
Finally it just gave me additional 13% magic resistance - not worthwile since you have to wait for lvl-23 or 24 to gain the "use-any-item" ability - way too long for you can achieve better resistances (and other advantages) by using ring of gaxx, amulets and so on ... I finally ended up with a good halfling mc fighter-thief ;)

[IMG] Truly, multiclass outshines dual classing in ToB, don't you think?

I am underway to find out about multiclass advantages now ... I'm playing a halfling mc fighter-thief through BG-2 SoA and ToB and he's developing to be a really powerful char.

Anyway, there are some disadvantages: The level-up is torturing slow and they lack weapon proficiency slots compared to a dc fighter-thief iirc.

[IMG] Yes, gaining levels is slower so this is what I did in my current game:

I'm playing a mc Halfelf Fighter/Thief and to get levels faster I solo'd him until he had about 1 million xp. Then I carefully started picking up the NPC's (Viconia, Korgan and Edwin) which that way started at 800,000 or 1,200,000 xp.

While "soloing" I didn't finish any of the quests that give Quest XP awards, instead saving these awards for when I had the full 4-character party.
The first thing the party did when filled up was to go collect about 200,000 xp/character in different Quest XP rewards! :D

[IMG] I fear I will use the .... hmm ... a wee bit cheesy trick to place my halfling and his party on the walls (there is a reasonably safe area :D ;) ) where I will gloriously participate in the defence of the city under siege ... that way I and my party will level up a bit ;)
