Given that we only have a separate board for D&D, I suppose other tabletop RPGs go here... Well, those of you who are aware of the Fantasy Flight Games' series of tabletop RPG games based on the Warhammer 40k setting probably know that after making the Dark Heresy and Rogue Trader games. For those of you who don't have a clue what this is, the Warhammer 40000 setting is set in a dystopian future, where humanity is (mostly) united by an oppressive Imperium, beset by all sides by hostile aliens who run the gamut from space orks (note the "k) , engineered to fight an ancient fight and then left to their own devices, to bio-developed swarms who make the Zerg look like a handful fluffy kittens (not to mention having inspired the Zerg), to robotic monstrosities, awakening from their eon-long slumber to cleanse the galaxy of life in homage to their pseudo-gods. Heresy and chaos are rampant, and just beyond the physical world a hellish dimension churns with demonic armies and their not-quite-human allies, who jump at every chance to bring slaughter, mutation, despair and pain to the galaxy. In the world of the 41st millenium, there is only war.

In the previous games of the series, players took on the roles of acolytes of the Imperial Inquisition or members of the crew of the adventurous Rogue Traders. In the new game Fantasy Flight are working on (which will come out later this year) players take on the roles of space marines from the elite Deathwatch kill-teams, genetically modified supersoldiers seconded to the Inquisition's anti-alien detachments. FFG have already released an introductory adventure called "Final Sanction", complete with a simplified version of the ruleset and a set of premade characters. So whether you are a veteran of their previous 40k games, or a PC gamer who hasn't even heard of the previous games, give it a try - it's imo quite good, and certainly quite free!

    Final Sanction - Web Quality
Final Sanction - Full Size (warning, large file)
    Two Additional characters

BTW, no, I am not a paid fanbot who has hacked The Shaman's account (though I wouldn't mind being paid, too) - but I did like the previous games, and I think this one might be good as well.
