Deck Of Many Things Problem (Slight spoilers)

Ive just got to Aesgaroth (whatever his name is) and I 'aquired' the DMT off him. One problem which I first noticed when I was betting against him: The cards I draw do not affect me at all eg. commet, plague etc.
The only affect which worked was the High Priestess one (forgot what its called) which gave me an instant level up.
Has anyone experienced this problem, if so what can I do?

P.S. each card will progress as usual until the deck vanishes but the affects wont come into play!

 

i dunno.. sometimes i got the high priestess.. my feeling is that the cards you draw are pretty random

 

I know, but no matter the affect, save one (mentioned above) things like plauge didnt do anything to my character. It just said the affect eg. plague and it moved on to Aesgaroths!?!

 

well--not sure if this is helpful (you may already know this).. but it was confusing to me the first time I encountered the DMT:

the 'game' you play vs. the cambion is very very different from the game you play if you kill him and take the deck. IMO, the game you play with him is basically worthless (except you can win a scroll of wish and get the spectral brand). The decks effects on you during this 'game' are basically always harmful and worthless.

if you take the deck from him (as you implied), you get three draws. Make sure one of the first 2 is 'bad'.. and then you can get some great stuff---like exp.

what effect are you specifically missing?

 

I knew I should have killed that guy. I figured that would happen through the dialogue. I played him and lost, but didn't lose anything? I gained some cool items and gems to complete a key/sceptor. What else did I miss out on? Do I want to know?

 

Well all the affects dont work whether Im playing against Aes. or by myself, except for High Priestess.
I have also moved on since then and I am up to Machine of LTM. When I talk to the mage and bug him, he says that he'll make things 'more intersesting. He then activates the machine and NO AFFECT comes to play! Help.

P.S. Please no spoilers on LTM past this point. I wish to know why things arent happening not what happens next.

i guess its a bug.. or maybe its your magic resistance.. are you playing a monk or wizard slayer imported from SoA with the additional 10% magic resistance and gave urself an insane magic resistance.. so much so that no offensive spell can have an effect on you...

 

Same here, if I bug him he says how dare I ask him about his comrades and so on and either launches a lightning bolt or some other spell at me which has no effect due to resistance, not a bug.

 

When he "makes things more interesting" he means by summoning monsters, so it is an actual bug, not resistance or anything like that.
