I'm currently soloing a sorcerer and as any self-respecting hero, I just had to defeat Kangaxx and get that nifty ring.
Only problem... the guy seemed completely immune to magic. Not as in "100% magic resistance" but as in "no spell can affect me, ever".
Seemed I had only two things that could damage Kangaxx:
    1) hitting it with my staff of the magi. Doing 1 damage / round while it heals 2 / rnd. Forget it.
    2) swords of mordaikanen: he imprisons them so fast that there's a fat chance it'd ever work.

So... what could I do?? I read somewhere that the ring the ram does full damage against it. That's 30 and I think the Kangaxx has about 60 hit points so I'd need to hit it twice with an item that only has one charge... well, could be done. Equip the ring, cast project image, then hit it with the ring right when the image is about to disappear, and hit it again with my char. Would require devillish timing, but at that point, it was better than what I could do.
I was thus considering a reload to try it out, and spamming the critter with various spells in sheer frustration when...
    Bang, it died.
    Just like that.
Dragon Breath WORKS on a demi-lich.

Do a search for Kangaxx, I'm sure you'll find more information than you need.

Anyway, Kangaxx has 50 hitpoints. He can only be hit by +4 or better weapons, and has incredible physical resistance. I do not think that he regenerates though (at least, he didn't in my game). Use spells to protect from imprisonment. Since you have SoTM, use Spell Trap and Protection from Abjuration. As far as I can tell, he is immune to magic, and nothing will affect him.

EDIT: Oops, thought you were asking for advice. Well, I'll leave this up, maybe someone else could benefit from it.

[IMG] Actually Rastor you are right, Kangaxx doesn't regenerate. However his ring has a regeneration rate of 2hps/round :p

Hmmm, what's Dragon's Breath? I looked through all the spells and can't seem to find it there. Or is this one of the Extra Ability Spells?

Yes, it is a high level ability. And not one I'd normally consider ever using so it was really a stroke of luck. I *was* casting every spell I had left at it in frustration before reloading.

    DO run a search.

But right off the bat you can do the following: cast Improve Haste (you DIDN't memorize it? BAD choice... need a scroll) and then Melf's Minute Meteors or Energy Blades - if you have them. You will kill the bastard alright. If you don't cast IH KangASS will regenerate faster than you damage him. Have at least three sets of MM's or two sets of EB (btw two sets of EB's kill even Demogorgon).

If you think it's too hard, then find a scroll of Power Word: Kill and use it :)

[IMG] Since you're a mage you'll end up using the (a) staff of Rhynn and (b) melf's magic meteors anyway ... an that's just as short as recommenting a board scan (which indeed is recommendable) ;)

Guys, guys... thanx for the advice, but I wasn't exactly asking for advice, you know. ;)

On the contrary, I was *offering* advice: easy way of killing a demi-lich with a mage is by using the HLA "Dragon Breath".

Your mage probably won't have it if you're partying, but then you'll have fighters to shred the damned thing into ribbons. But if you're soloing, you will have it.
