Demon in Svirfneblin City- i need some help

i cant kill this demon, Balor, in the deep gnome city in the underdark. i summoned FIVE elementals and blasted him with everything i got, but nothing worked. i was thinking about turning into the slayer....oh my...what does that do to me ?

 

I was caught unawares that time - thought I had to go down the stairs but when I clicked on it, the Balor suddenly appeared. IIRC, my missiles weapons didn't work so I hacked and bludgeoned away until it died.

Throughout my first game, I didn't dare to switch to the Slayer for fear of some permanent change (I was playing a good guy). Yeah, I'd like to know too - what happens if you turn slayer?

 

You loose 2 reputation points if you turn into the slayer, each time you do it! Beyond that, I don't know.

 

You die if you stay in Slayer form too long.

 

i never tried becoming a slayer, Do you have complete control of it?

My half orc and fighter/theif characters were strong enough to kill almost anything alone, but now that im doing a druid. i might need that kinda power, is it worth it?

 

Slight correction : you can stay the Slayer (and have full control over it) as long as there are enemies to fight. As soon as the Slayer isn't attacking anyone he dies pretty quickly (read:seconds)

 

I've visited a few sites and many posts state 'different' behaviours of the Slayer abiltiy. The one that is most common (and I've experienced as well) is continual drop of Reputation -2pts at a time if you are of GOOD alignment. I've seen some posts that state if you are of EVIL alignment your Reputation stops at 6. -I'll find out soon enough because my current party is EVIL.

Also, I've never seen any post stating that 'Full control' of the Slayer ability WITHOUT the side effects. Side effects such as JOLTS and HP Damage. ALTHOUGH in the game there is a point that states "You now have FULL control of the SLAYER Ability blah, blah, blah..." But your character still recieves Jolts and HP damage when using it. If anyone has any other experience with the SLAYER ability, please.. post it!

 

It takes your AC to -15 and sets hp to 100. Not sure if there are other effects, but after a set time, you start to take exponential damage each round(2...4...8...16...). And time spent in dialoge with someone counts as time as the slayer. You rip opponents to shreds though. Give it a try...It'll make you feel good...Everyone is turning into slayers, except the chickens. You're not a chicken are ya?

 

I couldn't even make a dent in that stupid demon the first time I ran into him, so I tried turning into slayer to see what would happen...

Slayer tore that s.o.b. to shreads and didn't take a lick o' damage.

 

I don't need to turn into some stupid slayer to smack a Balor, I could tear him a new one with my +4 to hit!

And don't forget Bolt of Glory and the like!

 

My ranger in my 2nd game had demons as a racial enemy so i kicked his ass.

 

nice choice for racial enemy.The best would be vampires if it wasn't for their level drain ability and the amulet of power can't be used by fighters...
