If it is all in fun as he claims (a celebration dance or something like that), then it's fine. But I really can't think of what the purpose behind imitating that salute would be except to make the same statement that Hitler did, of genocide. Either way, something like that is best ignored.

He's a great player mind. The kind of player who makes football worth watching.

Di Canio used to be a member of the hardcore Lazio hooligans, who happen to be the most racist footballfans in Italy. They worship Mussolini, even though he brought only destruction to their land.

    Just an observation.

Personally i don't take offense if someone makes the fascist salute, everyone is entitled to his/her own choice, but if you do it in public, or on national television, and you have a celebrity status, then you're pretty daft from my point of view. You KNOW that every socialist worth his salt is going to attack you publicly, the whole left side of the globe is going on a witchhunt. If that's what he was after...well...cheers, he succeeded. If not, it shows he's missing a few vital braincells. :shake:

Yes, it is pretty bold - or stupid - of him. By the way isn't there an Italian goalkeeper who used some fascist symbols on his uniform as well?

Are we talking about a goalkeeper who is currently active, or one from the past ?

I heard about him like 5/6 years ago. Maybe it was this same Di Canio and either me or my friend mixed it up.

Probably, Di Canio was never a goalkeeper, so we can count that one out. Also, he hasn't been all that much active in the "Seria A", as you may know he went on a British adventure for most of his career. I'm intrigued by your goalkeeper comment though, i'll be going through all my files to see if i can find anything about it, you made me curious. :D

I'll post anything i can find about it in this thread...IF i can find anything. :D If the goalie indeed has such a reputation, he would be smart not to get photographed in any possible embarrassing poses, or not to get caught up in a tricky interview, so it might be quite the search.

No biggie though... i like a challenge. :D
