Does Bless/Chant stack?

I was wondering if these spells stack. Thanks.

Chant never showed on my character record, though. I wonder if it works at all...

Never used the chant spell though now i think i will

It definitely stacks. I never bothered checking the character record, but there was always an icon on the thumbnail of my character on the main screen. For bless the icon is a cross, whereas for aid, it looks kind of like a church with a cross on it. Aid also stacks with both of them.

 

Yes, it's kinda fun when you cast Prot. from Eeeevil 10', Chaotic Commands, Resist Fear, Free Action OR Improved Haste, Protection from Energy, Chant, Bless, Limited Wish, Wish... was it all ? Probably not , and your party looks like a bunch of Christmas trees... not to mention that their faces are completly covered by various symbols.

With Chant, though, it also must give penalties to the enemies, and I never noticed it did.

What penalties?

 

Do you mean if two or more of the same type stack (e.g. 2 x Bless), like Doom, or do you mean if one type stacks with the other (e.g. Bless + Chant)? While the answer to the latter is 'yes', I'm not so sure about the first one. It's probably 'no', although I haven't checked it.

Someone discovered fairly recently that Chant is bugged. Iirc, the problem was that the enemies' rolls were unaffected, making Bless as good an option as Chant. Someone else offered to write a bugfix, but I don't know if anything ever came of it.

 

I think chant is bugged, too
