Remember the thread I made about that gay parade?

They wanted a similar parade in Warsaw. The city president refused to allow that and so they couldn't. The city president got a gateau in his face.

What did the gay movement's leader say about that incident?

Mr Kaczyński has himself to blame. It is an effect of escalation of violence which he started himself. He should not assume that such situations will not repeat.

However, when Mr Niemiec (for such is his name) got some cream poured on his head during one parade (no throwing or anything involved), he said:

Pity we have to live in a country where terror rules.

    Any comments?

Seems like the gays in Poland are a lot more radical than they are here.

This is clearly a doble standard.

chev, a link would be nice so we can see the full story, and then commence attacking you for your obvious bias. :p :p :p

(Note: I'm sure you have distorted anything; I just like to have a complete picture before commenting. Plus I like razzing you. :) )

I'm sorry, but I have no link. The quotes are from a public newspaper and they're exact. I translated them literally without any stylistic work to avoid distortion.

That one of them got a gateau in his face and the other got cream poured all over him are recorded facts, hehe :D

OK, then taken at face value, it would indeed seem to be a double standard. Having said that, given that the gay rights movement is coming from behind, I guess their approach makes some sense from a political standpoint.

Truly logical? - no. Justifiable? - maybe. When trying to undo past wrongs, I'm willing to accept a bit of a double standard. ;)

Boy, do I like the polish gay community! Always good to see some people rousing the bland bourgeoisie. :D

Presuming the above is true, well, of course this is an example of double standards. How could it not be? The world is full of them - although, of course, we tend to see only those that suit our views/needs.

As long as there's a (wrongful) imbalance double standards are valid, maybe even necessary. For most job postings nowadays there's a quota for women or the physically disabled. Double standards there as well. But do we care? Hell, no! Are they necessary? Hell, yes!

It really all depends on you furthering or not abiding the case in question.

[IMG] Allright just to clear it op: a gateau is like a pie right? That guy got a pie in his face because he didn't allow a sort of gayparade, I got that correct?

Yes. A gateau is a big wet cake. Typically a birthday or wedding thing. Kaczyński got it in his face because of not allowing that gay parade.
