There are good drow books...? :p

Oh, okay, to be fair - Homeland, Exile, and Sojourn. Chances are that's it, however. Certainly nothing else in that saga is worthy of being called 'good'.

Give Drizzt some credit will you. It is just plain fun to read, it's no masterpiece but it's great fun.

I would recommend the first four books of the War of the Spider Queen. But chances are that you won't finish the series because word is that Athans (rot in hell you amateur) fudged up again.

Cunninghams series about Liriel Baenre is quite enjoyable. Nothing great but quite good to be FR stuff.

I did give Drizzt some credit! It's just that what I mentioned was all I thought he was worth credit for :p
(Though I haven't read The War of the Spider Queen - the utter crap which Salvatore wrote in The Silent Blade made sure of that ... though Drizzt stuff has been uninspiring for a long time)

Are you kidding?! This is possibly the best Salvatore book ever!

I recommend you read the Drizzt books, I've loved them all. Cunningham's books about Liriel Baenre should be quite enjoyable too, but I haven't read those yet.

    (Hmm, there's a spoiler below...)

    ...

Right, I skim read pages of that because I really couldn't stand to read yet another Drizzt fight or some boring crap about Wulfgar becoming an alchoholic or whatever...

It's not character development if it doesn't go anywhere :p Especially when said character should be dead - and was a much better character when he was :)

The War of the Spider Queen is absoltely awesome - the characters are PROPER drow for once, a bunch of backstabbing, self-serving, Lolth-worshipping scary creeps with spider fetishes :D

I mean it - it is awesome.

I would also recommend the War of the Spider Queen series. I own the first four, and they literally took 1-2 days to finish them, as they were so engaging and addictive.

The Drizzt books are all enjoyable. If you want to read about Dark Elves, I shouldn't read from the Paths of Darkness series, but the 3 Dark Elf books and 4 Legacy of the Drow. You don't need to read the 3 Icewind Dale books for it.

I don't know much about the books, but I saw one in a store that was kind of purple and had Drizzt on the front in the snow or something. And it was book 2 of something. (yeah I know I am new to all of this stuff, just bought my 1st D&D set a few days ago) If anyone identifies this book, tell me if it is worth buying?

That's probably "Streams of Silver" which comes after "The Crystal Shard" and is followed by "The Halfling's Gem". Before you read thse, read the Dark Elf Trilogy (1st book: Homeland, 2nd book: Exile, 3rd Book Sijourn).

They are worth buying in my opinion. I loved those books. But if you read them, read them in order.
