Ive heard people say that druids get powerful when they reach level 14 or 15. Why is this? They still have the same cruddy THAC0 and use the same armour...I know that they get immunity to poison at level 15, but thats it for now. Nothing earth-shatteringly powerful.

At 14th level, the Druid obtains a far greater number of 6th and 7th level spells. Yes, there's poison immunity. Also, after 14th level, the level progression for a Druid actually becomes quite rapid. In the levels thereafter, the Druid constantly builds up his resistances to the elements, fire, cold, etc.

[IMG] the assassin, why'd you open two identical topics spanning 5 minutes? Don't do that again.

Druid's Spell Level and spells per day
    Level 1 2 3 4 5 6 7
    14 -- 6 6 6 5 3 2 1
    15 -- 6 6 6 6 6 6 6

So, druids get 4 sixth level and 5 seventh level spells more (they get also high level abilities, like Greater elemental summonig) when they reach level 15 (3,000,000 EXP)

Edit: sorry, I noticed another topic too late

So what's after 15 then? What new abilities do they get (what are druid's HLA:s btw?) and how do their spells per day increase after that? My manual is who knows where so I'd appreciate an answer that does not include "RTFM". And no, in case someone was wondering, I do not support piratism.

I'm surprised this hasn't been mentioned yet. The druid also gets much better shapeshifting abilities at level 15. The quest spells also help a lot, elemental princes are the best summoned creature in the game.

You asked the question why do they get powerful at level 14, didnt you?

The reason is that in ADnD 2nd Eddition, druids could not reach a higher level than 14. That is when they became the high druid, and there could be only one at a time, so in effect, there could only be one level 14 druid in the world. When the developers created the game, they translated directly from the manual without checking it out first. Then they realised that the druids could not progress past level 14, so they continued with the pattern of progression, which is why there is such a large gap between a druid level 14 and 15.

Understandably, they get the non-existant powers after they reach the unattainable level 15.

    Cheers.
