DSL vs. Broadband

    Ok, I'm a bit confused. I thought DSL and Broadband were different. I have broadband right now and it hooks up to my modem via a coaxial cable.
    Now, I see advertisements for Verizon (our phone company) DSL. But in the descriptions, they also call it broadband. A friend got this and he connects via a line that plugs into the phone jack.
    So what's what here?
    I play a lot of playstation games online. They say they need a broadband connection. So will they work on the DSL?

    [​IMG] Broadband is a broad (heh) description of any high-speed Internet connection. xDSL, cable, whatever. Anything faster than your regular dial-up modem can be considered broadband.

    Damn, Tal beat me to it. DSL is broadband, even though it goes through the same lines that the crappy 56k dial-up connection goes through.

    I have DSL personally, and I like it! You'll be able to play PS2 through a DSL line just fine. If you go cheap (like I did) and get the 256K DSL, you might find times when you wish you would have gone with the 1.5Mb/s option... :rolling:
