I received a copy of Dungeon Lords CE for Valentine's Day, and have just started playing it. The orginal game received a lot of horrible press, and the demo was almost as bad. So I stayed as far away from DL as I could. But now with the Collector's Edition, I must admit that I'm having a pretty good time with it. It reminds me a little of the ill-fated M&M Crusaders, but DL has some interesting role-playing aspects. So far, I like it.

But there are still flaws in it, such as the completely furniture-less buildings. Instead of creating a completly new game that people once again have to buy at full price, they could have come up with one or two patches.

Don't get me wrong, despite all the bugs, i enjoyed this game, and always thought it had a lot of potential, but there's no way in hell i'm going to buy the same game twice.

I've played it also, didn't really like it. There is WAY too much running around involved, conversations are bland and boring, it's basically a go here, kill that, kind of RPG without a very fun combat system.

I hear the release of the CE has sparked a lot of controversy and anger... since it's basically an updated version of the original game, but all the additions and fixes haven't also been made available to the people who've bought it originally. Not exactly something that'd win you favours with fans...

Sierra's "Lords of Magic" did a similar thing years ago -- original, and then a "Lords of Magic: Special Edition" -- with similar resentment from those who'd purchased the original highly-bugged game and didn't want to pay for what was really just a glorified patch.

(Though it worked for me...I bought 'em both.)
