Okay, I just bought the game of the year edition of Morrowind.

My question is should I install everything at once or play the original and then install the expansions as I go?

Is there any advantage to doing it one way or the other? Any patches I should be aware of?

As always, any info is greatly appreciated!!!

    POSSIBLE SPOILER
    ****************

I think it's best to install the original Morrowind and leave it at that until you are around level 15, and then install the expansions as you are attacked in your sleep for quest reasons by quite hard characters.

That's only Tribunal. Bloodmoon should be fine. That said, the attacks aren't that hard, and they do eventually stop. Just make sure to finish the main plotline before starting Tribunal, both for story reasons, and levels. And definitely DO NOT try to go to Solsthein till you're fairly high levels. The enemies there are tough .

I would say install the lot. Fair enough these attackers will cause you a problem but they don't appear till you reached a certain level anyway. The original game is too easy at higher levels. I do beleive the expansions correct minor problems in the game as well balancing it a little.

Install the whole deal, and get the bugfixing patch from Bethesda's site, that should be enough. Don't worry about any early attacks of Dark Brotherhood assassins, when they come for you at level 2 for instance, they aren't very hard to kill. And besides, the armour you can steal off their dead bodies means a little extra cash. ;)
