First a little background. I just got done playing Icewind Dale the japanese version. There is no difference between the jpn and english version (as far as I can tell) except for the text, which obviously is in jpn. The character sounds as well, are all in English, the only difference (and I doubt if it makes a difference or not) is the initial narration which is in japanese.

Anway, my problem is this: I now want to play Heart of Winter but there never was a japanese version made so just for the heck of it, I tried to import my jpn characters from IWD into HOW and it worked! All except for one thing: The character sounds are "muted". That is, when I select on them, or they are hit in battle, no sounds comes out. At first I thought I could play without it, but it's proving to be quite frustrating without their banter/screams, etc.

I also tried to recreate the character from scratch and then I was planning on importing them to a character editor like Icewind Dale Trainer or something, but after creating a new character I couldn't find the new character in the characters file.

If possible, I would like to do this without creating a whole new set of characters. Does anyone have any advice or suggestions as to what I can do? thanks, I appreciate it.

I'd try changing the voicesets of your characters. This can be done during the game.
Select the new HoW voicesets, I guess they'll work.

hi thanks kmonster, but how do you do that when you're in the middle of the game? i went to character sounds but wasn't able to select any thing other than the frequency of how often they speak.

You don't have to use the option menue.
Click on a character portrait so that the record is displayed. Then click customize.
Afterwards you should be able to change his picture, soundset, ...

This can be done for each character.

If you export and reimport your character you should also be able to change the sound set IIRC, but it's not neccessary.

I don't know if downloadable fan made soundsets exist but it might be worth doing a little search if you want a broader selection.
