experience penalty bug?

    I currently have a human fighter(4)/ranger(1)/rogue(2). She has suffered no experience penalties before. But now if I level up one more in rogue, she starts getting less experience, and the game shows a note stating that she is suffering multiclassing penalties. If I take a level of ranger instead, the same penalties still occur, although without the notification stated above. Please tell me this is a bug :(

    That is not a bug so far as Rogue level penalties are concerned. Fighter levels, as Fighter is your highest level class and therefore considered your favoured class, are ignored in the calculation. This leaves you with Ranger and Rogue. If you take a Rogue level, the difference rises to 2 levels, which incurs the multiclassing XP penalty. However, for taking a Ranger level you should suffer no penalties.

    To avoid the penalty, you need to keep your classes within one level from one another, except your favoured class, which doesn't count.

    Silly me. I suddenly realized I've been doing experiments while this character was one level higher than the others. Sorry.. my mistake.. :doh:
