I started a City Elf Rogue and was thinking I'd maybe like to try poisons, traps and bombs this time around.

Anyone have experience with weapon coating poisons? I couldn't find any information relating to how long the coatings last; do they last a long time, a short time, a single encounter, does it depend on the poison?

Depending on the poison. Some last a while other don't. Also, each type of poison offers extra damage and may stun or reduce an enemy ability.

I recommend only taking one level in poison so that you can use it to coat your weapon.

Most coastings I've tried last for a whole minute. I think there's one or two that lasts twice as long (or was it the other way round?).

Munchkin is correct, you only need 1 point in Poison-making to actually use any poison/bombs. You only need more ranks if you wanna craft them. You can stack different types of poisons.
Most of the poison-bombs do 70 flat damage, making each equivalent to something like a tier 3 spell from a pure magic (high level) mage. Bombs have their own cooldown. Each bomb type has one independent of other bomb types.

Bombs have a cooldown? What nonsense. What, am I mixing up the next bomb after I threw the first one? Bah! :)

I definitely want to try the Crow's and Improved Crow's Poison coatings. The grandmaster paralyze rune I used last time hardly seemed to kick in at all. Every once in a while I'd see it paralyze someone, but it was pretty rare.

I want to try the Large Claw Trap too. 150 damage plus 20s hold? That unbeatable! And those elemental traps do quite a bit of area damage as well. Good for my stealth hit and run rogue tactics.

I really liked using poisons - If I got stuck on a fight and just needed an extra edge, they gave me it :)
