I'm not really sure if this has been posted before, most likely it has, but it doesn't appear to be recently, so here it goes:

Make a list of your favorite actors (No specific number, just no more than 10), and post them here :) .

My List (In no particular order):

    Harrison Ford
    Tommy Lee Jones
Mel Gibson (Especially for the Mad Max trilogy)
    Jim Carrey
    Barry Pepper
    Bruce Willis

    EDIT: Add Jack Nicholson

No way to really include them all. Also there are many who are outstanding, and are easily overlooked. A couple of my favourites:

Harrison Ford, David Warner, Denzel Washington, Ethan Hawke, Julia Roberts, Rene Russo

I am not overly picky about what actors are in a film but if I had to pick my ten favourites the ones that first come to mind are

    Groucho Marx
    Bruce Campbell
    Jean Reno
    Robert De Niro
    Jackie Chan
    Harrison Ford
    Denzel Washington
    Kevin Conroy
    David Warner
    and Mark Hamill

The last three are mostly on there for their voice acting skill, although David Warner is pretty damned good in every role that I have ever seen him play.

These are only a few, but I included the films I thought they were good in also. So, it could also be a list of some of my favorite movies.

Jodie Foster - (Silence of the Lambs)
Clint Eastwood - (Unforgiven, High Plains Drifter)
Russell Crowe - (The Insider, A Beautiful Mind)
Nicole Kidman - (To Die For, Moulin Rouge)
Peter O'Toole - (Lawrence of Arabia, Man of La Mancha)
Holly Hunter - (Raising Arizona, The Piano)
    Sam Neill - (Jurassic Park)
Emma Thompson - (Sense and Sensibility, Howard's End)
Liam Neesan - (Schindler's List, Excalibur)
Woody Allen (Hannah and Her Sisters, Annie Hall, Mighty Aphroidte)
Morgan Freeman - (Glory, The Shawshank Redemption)

Hmmm, I'll try to keep my list to only 5.

#1: Adam Sandler - Best comic actor I've ever known! ('The Wedding Singer', 'Mr. Deeds', 'Anger Management,' 'Bulletproof', ect.)

#2: Mel Gibson - Best Action/War actor of all time! ('Braveheart', 'We Were Soldiers', 'The Patriot', ect)

#3: Tom Hanks - Great all-around actor! ('Forrest Gump', 'Castaway', 'The Termanal', 'BIG', ect.)

#4: Jim Carrey - 2nd only to Adam Sandler!

#5: Tom Cruise - 2nd only to Mel Gibson!

As for actresses, my top 5 are:

#1: Halle Berry - Great in 'Die Another Day', and the 2 'X-Men' movies

#2 - Elisha Cuthbert - Awsome in 'The Girl Next Door', and '24'

#3: Keira Knightly - Great in 'Pirates of the Caribbean', and 'King Arthur'

#4: Jenifer Aniston - Awsome in 'Office Space', 'Bruce Almighty', and 'Along Came Polly'

That's it...it's 4am, and I'm too lazy and tired to write longer reasons for the actresses...or even to list #5. :rolling:

@Apeman, if I were to look only at Pacino's early work I would probably agree with you but quite frankly his acting over the last 20 years completely knocks him out of the running for me.

@ Apeman, let me start by saying that overall I DO like PAcino and his work. A lot of his recent material has been good but there hasn't been any role that he has played in them that really impressed me with his acting like his earlier roles did.

I agree that Heat was a great film but, while I thought De Niro was excellent in it, I felt that Pacino was merely good.

As for Scent of a Woman and Devil's Advocate - I found his acting to be incredibly hammy in both of them and I WOULD put them on a list of shame. I know that other people thought he was great in these films but I personally didn't like either the films or his acting in them.

Hmm, given that I actually like Pacino and the bulk of his work this isn't all that fun to debate. Maybe I should switch over to giving my opinion about Tom Hanks' acting and then we could really watch the fur start flying.

Edit: Ha, just after I finished writing this I saw the most hated actors thread. #1 on the actor side was quite easy to come up with. ;)

Also, I guess I will add my favourite actresses to this list. Most of these no one will have ever heard of, the list is very heavily weighted towards voice actresses and b-movie/t.v. show actresses - I make no claims that these are the best actresses out there - just that I like them. Again, they are in no particular order and there will only be as many of them as I can come up with off the top of my head.

    1) Jennifer Hale
    2) Tara Strong
    3) Arleen Sorkin
    4) Sheena Easton
    5) Kelly Rutherford
    6) Jennifer Garner
    7) Dina Meyer

    1. Peter Stormare - Hamilton, Armageddon(which otherwise sucked), Minority Report(which sucked even more). He is great, and the best actor ever. Wierd that he almost never plays a Swede though, he almost always plays as a Russian dude.

    2. Bruce Willis - If he do a good movie, it's great. If he do a bad movie, it sucks. While he is great in movies like Last Man Standing, the Jackall, Die Hard, Die Harder, Pulp Fiction, and even more, he is really bad in movies like Color of Night, Armageddon and some more. Ethier he's the best, or one of the worst.

    3. Lucy Liu - While her performance in Charlie's Angels and Full Throttle was, while best of all actors in the movie, not good, she is overall a great actress. That, and the fact that she is probably the only really hot actress in the world.
