[IMG] This book by Simon Singh shows the greatest moments of the historic evolution of the search for the proof of Fermat's Last theorem.
It is an excellent history book on how people - great mathematicians went on to solve the mystery of a more than 350 years old puzzle.
The contents of the book is tense from the beginning to the end, while discovering some of the greatest minds of the mathematics.
The book is not only for someone who studies mathematics it's great reading pleasure for everyone.
I strongly recommend this book to all of you. Just READ IT, it's great.

    [IMG] ditto :)

This is a great book, very readable and is a great overview of the entire history of math in addition to the story of the search for this proof. After reading this, I gave a copy of it to my uncle who writes math text books for a living and he enjoyed it too. But you don't need too much knowledge in math to enjoy it, because most of the book is about the lives and dedication of the various mathematicans who worked on this problem over the years.

I love you so very much right now. I absolutely love maths. And I love this book. When our mathematician at school recommended it we though he was crazy if he actually though we were going to read that thing. We all read it...

Uggh...Math hurts my head. All I need for me is addition and subtraction, so I can calculate my billable hours!

But I may have to check this out...All this excitement about a math book is scary, yet strangely intriging.......

I was always wondering how a 300 page mathematical proof got so popular. Seems it's not just a proof. Might read it if I want my head to implode with abstract maths.

[IMG] There was a "NOVA" episode based on the book with interviews and so on. It was totally cool...
