    hello,

i'm wondering if anyone can help me. i'm playing bg2 with tob on my mac (native rather than crossover) and am about to go to spellhold. i talk to aran linvail and get the cut scene, then the game crashes and i get 'file error 89' on the loading screen.

a quick search of the net doesn't throw much up, and i had this problem earlier with cutscenes, but has always (eventually) worked.

has anyone had this problem before? or can think of a way of circumnavigating it?

    any ideas welcome.

    thanks

sorry in reference to it happening earlier in the game, it would crash with that error once, i'd reload, try again, and it would work. i've tried this abut 10 times though, and still get the error.

Most likely a corrupt file. Back up your saved game and reinstall.

    It runs on Mac?

that's what i was worried i'd have to do. is there anyway to just 'skip' to brynlaw or something similar?

or indeed, find which file is missing and manually install it from the disc?

I have no idea what "file error 89" is. Missing file? Unreadable file?
This is not a helpful error message to give players of this game.

looks like reinstall fixed the problem. also I noticed by baldur.ini file had install=1 rather than install=3 for full install on mac. strange. changed it manually and appears to have made things a bit more stable.
