Well, I have two problems, one both of which are pretty annoying.

The first one is that the firefox browser no longer uses as much of the screen as it should. In the bottom of the window, there is a 5 cm high, grey bar that goes from left to right. In it, this message is written

    <!DOCTYPE overlay SYSTEM "chrome://rankquest/locale/rq_Overlay.dtd
    --------------------------------------------------------^

I think this might have been caused by using a different skin than the regular one before, but I am not sure. I have tried reinstalling firefox but the bar remains

My second problem is that after using firefox once after startup, and then closing it, and then trying to start it up again, the program does not start. I think I can solve the problem by shutting down the process, because I think it is still on from the last time I used the program. However, I'm still wondering why I can't open a new firefox window, and why the process continues after I have shut the program down.

    Can anyone help?

You didn't uninstall properly, I believe.

In addition to uninstalling Firefox, you need to delete it's folder from your user account's Application Data. Backup bookmarks.html and cookies.txt or you'll lose your bookmarks and cookies.

Yup, that worked, thanks. Unfortunately, I backed up my old bookmark file instead of my new one :o
