Flail vs. mace

    [​IMG] What would be your chice? It would really be great if someone would explain how much damage can do 2D4+1 and how much 1D6+1.

    Small d, and big D mean the same right?

    And what if flail nad mace are +1, what are pros and cons?

    Btw, what's the deal with gems in place of avatar, mine is pretty ugly. How do i get a bejuril?

    2D4+1 = two(2) dices(D) 4 sides(4) +1

    So if you roll 2 dices of 4 sides and add 1, that will be your damage, Ex: 2 x 4 = 8 +1 = 9 damage

    1D6+1 = one(1) dices(D) 6sides(6) +1

    Same as before, roll one 6 side dice and add 1 and that's your damage, Ex: 1 x 6 = 6 + 1 = 7 damage

    AFAIK, it means what can it hit, but I'll leave this for someone as to answer the reasons.

    Wouldn't it be more like 2 dices, min 2, max 8 so dmg is between 2-8, but I'm not sure how to add +1, does it adds up to 3-8, or 2-9, or 3-9.

    I meant from what would i get overall better dmg, flail or mace. I think flail is better.

    1d4 is 1-4, 2d4+1 is 2 * 1d4 +1 = 2-8 +1 = 3-9 (average 6)damage dealt with a morning star+1.

    1d6 +1 is 1-6 +1 = 2-7 (average 4.5) damage dealt with a nonmagical flail or mace.

    Flails or maces with the same enchantment do average 0.5 damage less than morning stars.

    Morning stars and maces are more common, but there are also some great flails out there.
    It will take a long time for you to find a mace which is better than the flail you will find in chapter2.

    Not only the average damage dealt is important, weapons can have other more important properties.
