I am having this problem where during a game it will freeze but I will hear the sound going over and over like in CS if I am reloading and it freezes, I will hear the reloading sound over and over. The only thing I can do to get rid of it without restarting is minimize the screen with the window button on my keyboard then click on it in taskbar to bring it back up and it will be fine again. 90% of the time it works but sometimes when the window goes back up again CS will have removed me from a server and Baldur's Gate 2 will give me the Send/Don't Send message. It is a real pain in the ass and I don't know where it has come from or how to get rid of it. I format all the time and I have never had this problem before. Any ideas?

I had a similar problem, however, the games(particularly BG2) would freeze and repeat the sounds until I rebooted. I had a series of computer problems around that period. However, switching video drivers alleviated the bulk of that problem, although I'm not completely unconvinced that it was the defective RAM I had.

Well, to boost his post count of course! He is so jealous of all those 2k members that he wants to join them.

Solution #1: Update drivers -it's usually them that cause it, especially if you have recently updated to SP2.

Well, if you have installed SP2, then you deserve to have game crashes! Didn't I tell you guys not to install SP2 at some point?

I had the same problem when I tried to play The Simpsons: Hit and Run. I found that it was a problem with my USB sound card, so I fixed that, and I was able to play the game for about 5-10 minutes before it crashed again...that time I figured it was a heat problem...which is was...my CPU fan was buzzing so loud I though it was going to fly right out of my laptop. :rolling:

Actually, rolling back to earlier drivers than the one that could be causing the problems can help.

Hm, I still haven't fixed this problem. I can hear this noise, it comes on for a second when the game or PC is frozen and it sounds like "dzzzzt" or something then goes away. I think I had this problem before, it went away since I changed my CD/DVD thing. I think I remember that "dzzzt" sound being a lot worse before I changed the CD thing. It was ages ago since I changed it and I've had no problems until now. I bet it is something on the board but I've no idea. Help
