When playing ToB I found a really ODD thing about this item :spin: :rolling: (Well, I am not sure about the name, anyway ...)

They are said to give 1/2 additional attack for a fighter. Well, my fighter had 3 attacks with the gauntlets and 3 without :nolike:

Surprisinly they gave dear Alora, halfling thief with uai-abiliy, one full additional melee *and* one full additional missile attack as well :whoa: resulting in her having 4 missile attacks using the bow of the tuigan, turning her into a mashinegun with a reasonable THACO .... :hmm:

You were pretty close with the name - they're called "Gauntlets of Extraordinary Specialization", and as you said, they're only supposed to add half an attack. I've seen this sort of thing before with other items, too. It's wierd... Were you wearing boots of speed with one character and not the other, or anything like that?

yeah if you have say 2.5 attacks per round, when you put on the boots of speed, your attacks per round will be 3. This actually is a bug i think. So, maybe the gauntlets don't seem to work because of that. However on whole extra attack for the thief ?

[IMG] Thanks for the input, actually I think I will enjoy the items the way they are and wait for the next patch ;)
Anyway, sometimes it is really annoying to see ho bug-ladden this marvellous game is :heh:

    EDIT:
I think I found the solution why the gauntlets didn't work on my normal chars: When I found the item I was deep in ToB already: So my melee core (all fighter classes) had 3 melee attacks per round already. Since this is the max for a unhasted char, the gauntlets didn't make a difference. However, the effect on Alora was really surprising. Seems as if they are among the items you find to late to be useful in BG-2 (just like warblade and the other stuff you can buy at Riblad's).

I tried this out by testing and comparing new chars in Irenicus' dungeon with various items right from the console.
