Gibberlings 3 down, need Fix/tweak pack help

    anyone know why the gibberlings 3 website + forum is down? having problems installing the fix and tweak packs on my mac getting this message on attempted install -

    "The file “setup-bg2fixpack.command” could not be executed because you do not have appropriate access privileges

    To view or change access privileges, select the file in the Finder and choose File > Get Info."

    - i do obviously have the correct access privileges. has anyone encountered this problem before? is there an easy fix?

    unfortunately can't ask g3 for help, because their site is down.

    appreciate any help.

    The suspended message is pretty obvious... they're on a 6 buck host and they used too much of their allocated resources, so they shut them down. Such hosts aren't suitable for any but the smallest sites; sites with even remotely increased traffic will get suspended or terminated as the "unlimited" hosting plans are a scam. I don't know how long they've been on that host but it's a minor miracle that it took this long before they shut them down.

    What makes you think that you "obviously" have the correct access privileges? Which OS are you using? Are you logged in as admin? I'm not familiar with Macs so this may not apply, but on recent Windows these kind of errors usually crop up when current login isn't admin.

    i'm the only user on my system, so am automatically admin have all privileges, checked all the settings for users etc, files set to read and write, same as other mods i've installed from other sites. just fix and tweak pack from g3 that causing problems. so was wondering if anyone else had had this problem?

    How long have they been down? I hope it won't stay that way because they are a nice addition for BG2 stuff.

    I may have access to last year's tweakpack.

    Not all exe files are run with all priviliges even if you're the admin on Windows Vista or Windows 7. User Account Control (UAC) makes exe files run with limited priviliges. Either right-click and 'run as admin' or turn that annoying UAC off in Control Panel>User Account>change User Account Control (don't know how it is called exactly in English, my Windows 7 is in Dutch).

    Are you sure you've run rightclicked the file as admin and/or turned off UAC? What is your OS? From your description it sounds like a typical Windows Vista/7 problem.

    Spam is (AFAIK) what killed the moviestar. According to rumours, it should be up and running sooish, probably in the forthcoming week.

    PS why has SP become slower over the last half year?

    One of the sites on the server is dragging us down, it's using too much resources... unfortunately there's no easy or quick fix short of moving them elsewhere (which wouldn't be easy or quick either). But we're hoping to improve the situation by the end of the year, at least, by their changing the forum platform that they're using.
