[IMG] Dynaheir --- she's in the Gnoll Fortress

  3. I got that Xan guy now, any good you think. It is so long ago since I played this game last that I don't remember..

[IMG] I don't like Xan. He's a whiner and he can't use invocations --- magic missile, fireball, etc :( -- Dynaheir USUALLY comes with fireball... ;)

[IMG] Yeah Dynaheir is a great invoker when it comes to offensive spells but Xan probably edges it if your looking for someone with greater scope. PLUS when you get to higher levels Dynaheir gets a bit restricted with the spells she can cast (I seem to remember her mage book being full of Cloudkills...). And Xan probably edges it stat wise. And has a nifty moon blade (which chances are u won't use much but never mind). Perhaps the greatest reason to take Dynaheir on when you find her though rather than Xan is because Minsc will love you forever for rescuing her, which is good.

  6. Well it doesn't matter any more, I just rescued dynaheir and took all of xan's stuff and left him... :D

And I am not going to make any changes in my party now

  7. Only drawback with Dynaheir is that she is so ugly

And yes I know I should have put this in my last reply, but I forgot...

After finishing the game twice my opinion is that if you want to have useful magicians in BG I your main character has to be one.

Or you could use my favorite stategy and use several of them. That way you are sure to have all your bases covered. Three mages in BG can be a powerful thing. Myself (fighter/mage), Quayle, and Dynheir were quite a combo. Incidently, 15 magic missles can kill a lot of things quickly :D Not to mention the armies of monsters and skeletons you can summon that way.

  11. Sorry Taluntain, did not know that.. It won't happen again :o

Dynaheir is th best closely followed by Edwin. Xan is also in my party with Dynaheir.
Two mages in one party=lots of fun!

Another possibility worth considering would be to dual-class Imoen to Conjurer at level 6 (assuming you have got TotSC).
Her stats are better than Dynaheir's and Xan's, she can still use a short bow plus Conjurers are just great. ;)

Fear Dynaheir's fireballs and magic missiles (especially when you get that ring which doubles your amonst of 1st level spells).

And it's even more funny when you got both Rings of Wizardry... Then the amount of level 1 spells doubles and then doubles again.

Isn't there a sought of good gnome mage at the enterance of Baldur's Gate (you have to be at the end of the bridge)? Or is that a cleric? I can't remember as i don't talk to him much! Still, if i remember right, his alignment was either good or neutral.

Yeah, you are sorta right on both counts Sniper. His name is Quayle. He is a gnome Illusionist/cleric, and his alignment is chaotic neutral. He, IMO, is the best backup caster in the game because of his sheer number of spells. He's not a great cleric, but he was enough of a cleric for me in the last few chapters.

:( WHen you got nothing to say don;t say it here :(

Well I prefer Dynaheir for she's the only good-aligned mage, the only problem is she can't summon animals and summoning in BG1 rocks....

I suppose that's the price of being a specialist mage. However, Edwin and I are sneering at all this talk about "good" mages. We all know who the man is :) Why he dealt the death blow to Dynaheir himself.
