Hackers Open Cars Via SMS

    I've seen those car commercials where the actors are wowed that they can open their cars and start the engines via their smart phones. I always wondered how secure the system was and wondered if it was such a good idea to have something like that.

    Well, seems like it's not all that secure. Hackers have demonstrated opening and starting the engine of a Subaru Outback via text messaging.

    And apparently these systems control more than just cars. Hopefully these security holes get plugged before criminals exploit them.

    In germany a hacker demonstrated the opening and controlling of some functions of a newer Mercedes via his laptops wifi.

    Apparently he managed to gain entry to the on-board CUP, over the wifi sensors of the car electronic brakes. Dam impressive...and creepy.
