Hi everyone you see my username and my real name is Eric I'm currently 18 years old and have been a fan of rpgs in general for a long time and have been playing the baldur's gate series I beat the first game with the tutu mod and now I'm playing bg2 with throne of bhaal and they have been one of my best rpg experiences ever. And for my mc a Cavalier kit paladin I would like a custom helmet made

Appearance: I want it to look like those helmets that the shield knights in the temple district wear that have the small horns and a ponytail plume or maybe without the horns and add a gothic style sallet visor that can be toggled to be open or closed if it's possible but if not the horns are fine I like the look of it either way the plumed helmet style is my favorite in the game

Name of helmet and description/backstory of it: now tbh I'm not good at this kind of thing so I couldn't come up with anything but I know the concept I want Is a paladin helmet kind of thing so surprise me as long as it's lore friendly

Effects and stuff: Protects against crits like all helmets, Only usable by characters that are Paladins and any paladin kit (maybe make it to where fallen paladins cant use it if possible), Small armor class boost 1 or 2 points, +5% or +10% to all magic, fire, cold, acid, and electric resistances, sets Charisma to 21, Immune to all psiconics and all other mind effects like confusion, domination, chaos etc etc, And maybe just 1 or 2 extra priest spell points for every spell level that a paladin can use would be nice.

Method of getting: It's a nice helmet so very expensive at adventurers mart special stock or new quite difficult quest any thing where you won't get it too late and still not be too easy to get will be fine. Maybe even as a new drop from the red dragon guy that drops that two handed holy avenger sword he's a fairly difficult opponent

Share your opinions of the helmet idea as well.

Nice helmet, but waaaaay overpowered. Just the Charisma bonus alone is better than anything else in the game, including the comboing of the 18 CHA ring together with the corresponding amulet/sword and Helm of Glory since you only need 1 slot for it. And you want it to have the defensive properties of a Helm of Defense, Psion's Blade AND some magic resistance as well? :p

If you can slay the Watcher himself, Helm, and take this prize off his corpse, it would seem a reasonable reward for the task. I mean, he's going to be at least 1,000x more difficult to kill than anything else in the game, so if you can pull that off you're probably due an OP item! :p

You certainly can't expect to just walk into your local Adventurers-R-Us and throw down some gold to obtain this godly item.

There are artifacts in the DMG that are less powerful than this helm. It's definitely an artifact. Not something you'd pick up at the local Adventurer's Mart but a treasure to be won after an epic quest and and equally epic battle.

Carsomyr is an Epic Weapon IMO. Firkraag being the keeper of it was very fitting. I am of the opinion that the other Dragons had crap for treasure. An artifact as a reward from the Silver Dragon would be fitting.

    But probably not this one.

I mean, an epic item only usable Paladins, which only becomes available when taking the evil path...

It might be a good reward for something in Throne of Bhaal, but it's too powerful for Shadows of Amn. Then again, I agree that Carsomyr and Crom Faeyr are epic weapons. I'd say the same about Celestial Fury if it was a +5 weapon or even +4. In many campaigns of P&P such a weapon with the powerful hold effect would be an epic weapon even though it's only +2, but then again there is an insanely high number of magic items in most CRPGs compared to the P&P Forgotten Realms.
In our groups any of the Infinity Engine games translated to P&P would be considered Monty Hall campaigns if they provided the same amount of loot.

???? Really????? Why would it be the evil path for completing the Silver Dragons quest? Why would infiltrating a Drow city to rescue the Eggs of a Silver Dragon, one of the most powerful and majestic Good beings on Faerun, putting your party in the path of entire Drow City, along with Mind Flayers, Beholders and Illithids, let alone a Demon Knight and a Lich, not give an Epic award?

    My turn...

    @Blades of Vanatar

Oops, when I wrote that comment, for some reason I was sure you meant as a reward for killing the Silver Dragon. Probably tempted by all the preceding talk of killing Helm and Firkraag etc., but in the end still a failure to properly read your comment on my part. Mea culpa...

Drop the resistances and psion immunity (keep the hold immunity) and it would be in line with Carsomyr and Crom Faeyr (and not much more powerful than some of the other helms you find in SoA who's names I can't recall atm that have no defense bonus but either resistances or immunities).

Edit: 21 charisma is not an OP stat imo. It's epic and it's useful for conversations, but it has far less effect than 25 strength from crom faeyr. If you're a paladin you're charisma is already 17-18 anyway so it's not even a big increase.
