ok, in chapter 3.. in the winter wonderland =P
I'm following the tracks the ring is giving me and I enter this astral door which leads me infront of big bad fellas from older parts of NWN like maugrim and grimgnaw.. and surpise suprise, they want to kill me..

now, how to get past them? just kill them? if so, how? =P my tank-for-a-paladin with the help of the great writer deekin seem to have unsurpassable trouble even getting to hurt them a bit...?

This is one of the toughest fights in the game. It might sound cheesy but do this:

Buff up first before you enter. Make sure your saves are ramped real high so that you do not fall victim to Stunning Fist.

Drink a potion of Bull's Strength, Cat's Grace, Endurance, Barkskin, Aid, Bless, etc.

Get Deekin to cast spells like Improved Invisibility, Haste, or Stoneskin if he has it etc and get him to sing his bard song.

Activate Divine Might, Divine Shield, cast Bless Weapon, Deafening Clang, etc on yourself.

Any decent paladin should have acquired Extra Smiting.

When the battle begins, go for the Lich. Hit him with Smite Evil. He should go down in two-hits, three at the most. You must bring him down before he casts Timestop.

Don't bother with things like Expertise. They won't make much of a difference in this fight because your opponents have uber BAB. Hopefully you have acquired feats like Damage Reduction and/or Epic Toughness. Smite the cleric next with Power Attack. Again, this should floor him.

Next, disengage from the Monk and Minotaur and chase down the Assassin. Use your final Smite on her and turn to face the remaining two.

Now, it's all a matter of beating them in melee combat which is still exceedingly tough. Use Improved Power Attack on the Minotaur first because he has a crappy AC. Remember to renew Divine Might/Shield when you have to.

After the Minotaur goes down, you're left with Grimgnaw. What can I say? Cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Your henchmen should die within the first 5 seconds of this battle so don't expect too much aid from them.

    Good luck.
