I want to play a Barbarian x/Bard 1/RDD 10. I realize that starting with a Bard would require a cha of 11. But if I started with a barbarian, can I take a bard level with a cha of 8?

    Thank you.

I can't confirm whether a Barbarianx/Bard1 can take RDD class - I don't have HotU. You can be a barbarian/bard with a charisma of 8. You can't cast bardic spells until you boost your charisma.

A barbarian/bard can become an RDD once he has 8 ranks in Lore. But I don't think the RDD part was what you were asking. Kuemper has answered your main question.

i am taking the very same character through the original campaign right now. He just took his first level in RDD and is progressing swimmingly with just 10 in charisma. Its an entertaining build, so haev fun with it :D

I am also in the middle of a game using a similar build. Currently Bard 3 / Fighter 2 / Red Dragon Disciple 2 in the Interlude section of Shadows of Undrentide. It's going reasonably well so far but I'm trying to work out now what would be the best level to take next.

You can do it no problem. Pale Masters with 8 intelligence, clerics with 8 wisdom, etc.

Technically, 3rd edition should allow you to make a level 1 Bard with Charisma as low as you like it, but NWN enforces that "11" thing as a kind of idiot-proofing for the game. If they didn't there'd be a dozen forum posts a day asking "why can't my bard cast spells???????" So for that we should be thankful. ;)

This character build is great. My Bard 3 / Fighter 4 / Red Dragon Disciple 2 is miles better than the Druid 6 / Shifter 3 I tried last time I went through SoU.

The level 3 Bard song provides some nice bonuses to complement the range of combat feats provided by the fighter and the AC and STR bonuses of the RDD. It's been plain sailing so far, when last time I struggled all over the place.
