HoW's Lonleywood Mages

    [​IMG] In Lonleywood, I am up against Vaarglan, Alpheus, Priestess of Shar and several mercenary warriors and no matter what I do Vaarglan throws power word kill at my group. I have tried Defensive Harmony, Dispel Magic, Chromatic Orb, just to name a few. Anybody have any ideas how to beat this group?

    The only spell that shields against death magic that I can remember is Seven Eyes, but I think this can only be used by the mage that casts it.

    The obvious solution to your problem is to go for the mage first, and eliminate the problem altogether... Ranged magic attacks and arrows/bolts if you can't get to him fast enough otherwise.

    Yeah, Seven Eyes will let you get nailed once by, quite nearly, anything.

    And in this one particular case, a good offense is your only defense. You can run around a little bit, but you are better off just preparing and unloading with every single thing in your arsenal. Get all your long-term spells and potions off inside the inn, so that when you walk outside, they are still in effect and you don't have to waste time using/casting them.

    And like Tal said, nail the mages first. You're better off surrounding one, and just pounding on him, than you are spreading out and letting everyone engage one enemy. You need to minimize the time that more than one of them is alive.

    Ok I figured out a way to beat the mages.It wasn't easy. I cast Seven Eyes before I even walked out of the Tavern door as well as Haste. I paused, moved my people farther away and then launched Cloudkill, then unpaused. The mercenaries followed my people but the mages died except Vaaglan, but she did not follow me. So I took care of her after everyone else then went and rested. Which was well deserved.
