Ive basically worked out what i want by the end of the game
Human: 25 (pickpockets), 100 (picklocks), 105 (traps), 185 (hide in shadows), 185 (move silent), 0 (detect illusion), 100 (set traps)
Halfling: 35 (pickpockets), 115 (picklocks), 120 (traps), 210 (hide in shadows), 210 (move silent), 0 (detect illusion), 100 (set traps)
First, are the skills for the human high enough to open most if not all doors and disarm traps? Ill be playing them basically the same. Halflings also have resistances to poison and magic. But i prefer humans over halflings probably because humans look more deadly than a midget. I need some advice on what to choose. Please look at the skills before you consider the other factors which has me thinking. The look of the character (very important to me) or skill (maybe a little higher but gets the job done none the less).

Hmm, don't you think the stats speak for themselves? I mean, I'd rather be safer then sorry. But, I tend to like halfing thieves better then human thieves anyway, but that's just me. Seriously though, I think your human's stats are high enough, but *shrug* I'd pick the halfling.

IIRC, there is a 1% chance of failure no matter how high your stats get. Also, why nothing in detect illusion? That's a great way to knock out misleads, project images and the like that the opponent mages love to use against you. Are you soloing or in a group? If the latter, is there another thief type to pick up the slack?

If you are soloing or playing with a party of 4 or less, there is plenty of experience to have all of your thief skills up at 100% by the end of the game, so I don't think the race issue really matters. It becomes a question of personal preference, which you have obviously indicated leans towards humans.

So be a man. (Sorry, couldn't help it.)

Er ... I would take human. I can't picture myself roleplaying halfling with my 198cm height. :D

Human so that you can dual class to fighter and gain 5* proficiency and mega backstabbing thaco!

If you are totally hard core like me go the whole hog and do the dual class as late as possible, level 26 for max thief skills and thief HLAs like UAI. Priceless for an evil assassin that has slipped into fighter mode and now wields Carsomyr and Ekindu Plate...

    Fun...

    Besides, halflings are so... small!

IMO opinion it depends on whether you want to go with what will give you the best thief stats, with a stat modification and some abilities, or if you want the advantage of roleplaying a human with the option to dual class if the notion takes you. Also the human option would give you the romances.
