One of my player want to play a human fighter raised by dwarf. And he asked me ig he will get some dwarf-like bonus, Like given up the extra feat bu havign the +4 dodge bonus VS giant. Beside the obvious personality of a dwarf what else could he get? Any idea?

[IMG] Captain Carrot from Terry Pratchett's Discworld series is a human raised by dwarves. Maybe you should check out the books "Guards! Guards!" or " Men at Arms" for more ideas.

I would say allow him to retain the extra feat, but remove the bonus skill point a human gains each level to depict his dwarven mindset and inflexibility. To balance this, you could give him toned down bonuses against the dwarven racial enemies like giants and orcs, etc.

I wouldn't recommend it at all. A human fighter raised by dwarves wouldn't have the time (unless he's like 80) to learn such tactics versus giants, orcs, etc. The resistances against spells and poisons wouldn't be in his blood. A gruff personality and skill with crafting/appraising things can all be represented through stats and skills.

    Simply less bookkeeping for you.

+2 still seems alright, although I was thinking more along the lines of +1. After all, a free feat is a considerable perk even for a fighter.

    It's your call, though.

BTW:After humans, dwarves are my favorite race for characters.

Dungeon_Master, it is a game, and in my opinion, D&D (whatever version) is complex enough as it is; no one really needs any more bookkeeping. But this is your choice, of course. But I'm just saying what I would do.
