I can't hear you...

    It's 3.13 in the morning. The whole surrouding is as quiet as it gets. This is the best time to test the performance of my new fan, and you know what? i can't hear it, at all, not sound, quiet. i shouted at my pc "i can't hear youuuuu", and still, it gave me no sound at all. You know what's the magic behind this? My new favorite cpu cooler

    Ah, I have seen that one before. Although I like the heat pipe approach, the massive unit kills it for me. Consider that most mother boards are mounted vertically. This means that the monster of a CPU cooler will be hanging off the motherboard every second that the computer is not laid down on its side. This is really bad because it can crush the pathetic AMD CPUs really easy, and can even break your motherboard if you're not very careful when moving it around...say, to a LAN party.

    About a month ago I stumbled on to a website that did the most extensive review on a TON of CPU coolers. I read almost all of them looking for the perfect CPU cooler for an overclocked CPU without turning to water cooling.
    I found it.
    It's the Scythe Kamikaze. :thumb:
    I can't find the original website that had all of the "good" in-depth reviews, but this CPU cooler out performed 95% of the other "high performance" CPU coolers...it is a little big, but still smaller than the "SilentTower". I mean the word "Tower" is in the product's name! That says something to me... :eek:
    Also, the Scythe Kamikaze’s quieter; for two reasons: first, it only has one fan...which is bigger, so it moves more air at a lower RPM; and second, it has a dial to control how fast the fan is actually spinning...so you can control any noise you might hear.
    Just my $0.02 though.

    I did see one custom made rig that used that CPU cooler, and incorperated it into the case design. He made a wind tunnel for the cooler that looked sort of like this:

    The CPU cooler was standing straight up (it's where the (fan) is in the diagram), and had an intake of cool, outside air, and expeled hot air right back out. Pretty cool rig that was.
