[IMG] So, I'm having a problem with my summoned Efreeti that I don't remember having previously. Whenever I summon one of these guys to help me out in battle and they get killed, instead of spinning around like they just got flushed down the toilet and disappearing (like they're supposed to, right?) they turn into a gaseous form and then reappear a few rounds later-- and they are hostile toward me. Not only that, but they are like ninja-commando beast-like thuggs (yes, with 2 g’s)! Now, if they had been this tough in the first place, they probably wouldn’t have gotten killed in the first place.

Sure being summoned away from wherever they were and whatever they were doing only to be thrust into a battle and subsequently killed sucks, but I don't remember things being this bad between me and genie.

    What gives?

You seem to be confusing Efreeti and Djinni. Efreeti are fire-magic users who turn into a gaseous form when near death, and this form regenerates. I don't use them myself, as they tend to be rather indiscriminate about where they are tossing their fire around.

Djinni are the creatures with the rotating death animation. They are a lot more party-friendly.

As for why the behavior is not what you remeber, the obvious question is: installed any new mods recently?

    Nope, no mods.

As far as confusing the two types of creatures, that is not the case so much as me making a bad joke that I guess you didn't get or pick up on... Sorry. I just thought that they both had the same death animation. Guess not.

Yes, my party tends to take a lot of friendly fire from Efreeti but this turning hostile after they turn into a gaseous form-- I don't remember that. I suppose that qualifies as "being mistreated" that the spell discription speaks of.

This spell is SO off my memorization list...sheesh.
