[IMG] Ok, so I decided to give PHPNuke a try, but I've been struggling with it for over 6 hours now. So I have a few questions for you guys.

#1: do I need to upload each and every file and folder that come in the .zip file? It's over 13MB, and I don't want to waste that much space. What are the files that I *need* to have on the server?

#2: I've been trying to set up my database by using Nukesql while reading the The Complete Idiot's Guide to Nuke The first time I tried it, I only had the files in the main folder and the files within the html folder uploaded. I was able to run the test to see if the database was empty, but when I tried to 'start the initial setup' it just when to a blank screen and didn't do anything else.
The second time I tried, with *everything* uploaded...but now I can't even get to the test page.

Have any of you guys used PHPNuke before? I need some serious help here... :bang: :rolling:

PHP? Do you know both DOS and HTML? If so, you shouldn't have any problems with PHP... and in terms of PHP programs... we will use EasyPHP next year, which is supposed to be a fine-working program.

What do DOS and HTML have to do with PHP (or even setting up a PHP CMS system)?
EasyPHP is just a simple installer for the PHP interpreter (including Apache, PHPMyAdmin*yuk*) and is not going to help because the CMS system needs to be installed at a Service Provider; and the already have a PHP interpreter running.

I'm not a big fan of PHP Kitrax, but knowing the GNU crowd, there is bound to be some documents hidden amongst the files that tell you what you need to install and how you need to install.
What I think you should do, is set up a small webserver at your own computer, then you are free to test everything without worrying about the size.
14 MB, seems an awful lot, you're probably copying more than just the PHP code, see about stripping the images if you are still worried about the size.

It was part of my devious plan to confuse Kit, but you have scrapped everything. Oh well.
