[IMG] I am wondering whether to buy Icewind dale, so is it worth it?
Also is it a sepearate game or is it an add-on to Baldurs gate II?
    Thanx!

[IMG] It's definitely worth it... It'll keep you busy for quite some time and since items are random you can replay it for more too.
It's been released before BG II and it's a standalone game.

IWD is a great game, but if you had to choose between IWD and BG2, choose BG2.

BG2 is cool, but Icewind is pretty cool, too. And IWD allows you to make an entire 6-character party of your choice from scratch and slowly build them up, which is very nice and fulfilling. BG2 allows you to make only one character per game, and he begins at 7th level or so, which kind of saps away some of the challenge. I just started playing BG2 and I already miss IWD.

[IMG] IWD is very very good. I have both IWD and BG2. I prefer BG2 because after all the time passe in BG1, you are being part of the game. And BG2 offer to continue in this exciting world with these caracters you already know.

But IWD make you know another place of Forgotten Realms, with another story. The only thing that miss in IWD is a good Butt-Kicking for Goodness!

If you want my advice, you HAVE to play both.

    [IMG] One last thing:

Play IWD before playing BG2. Because BG2 offer you so much more than IWD. So if you play IWD after BG2, you might be a a little bit disapointed.

    Resurrecting an old topic . . .

    I've played BG2 and PS:T.

Now, what about IWD & HOW????

Can characters go back and forth between the IWD & BG worlds?

Do I have to get IWD before getting HOW, or can I just skip to the second one (the way I skipped BG)?

Yeah, I know these are newbi questions, but I did a few searches and couldn't find answers to my questions.

    Throw me a bone here!

You need IWD to play HoW.

It's an expansion like ToTSC is to BG, not a separate game like BG2 is to BG.

IWD is great fun tho'! Don't think there is a double pack with the HoW expansion yet. HoW only been out about a month in the UK.

You'll also get great value for money if you get the double pack BG/ToTSC now going well cheap.

Sorry, almost forgot, characters are not officially portable between the IWD and BG, although it is apparently somehow possible. I've not tried as it would probably just cause problems.

[IMG] I've played (like all of you ;) ) pretty much all the aforementioned games from IWD-HoW (Brainless Bludgeoning) to BG1-BG2 (Think to live) So now I wanna ask, after playing these games, is PS:T still worth playing? Or will I be disgusted at myself for wasting my money?

R'syil, I've played IWD, BG 1&2, and PS:T, and I played Torment last, and yes I was disapointed. Still a very good game, it just doesn't hold a candle to BG or IDW IMO.

[IMG] Actually there already is a double-pack with Icewind Dale+Heart of Winter available. I have written about it like two weeks ago already. Check out http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/index.php
    Amazon has it...

[IMG] Yup, that's how it works... Anything you order through the links to Amazon on the site will earn me a small commision. I've put a notice about this in the footer of all messages here on the forums too. You might have noticed this:

Sorcerer's Place is a project run entirely by fans for fans. We don't get paid anything except for the percentages we get from Amazon for selling a book or a game through the links on our site. By buying any books or games at Sorcerer's Place you help us keep the whole thing up & running.
    Thank you for your support!

So if you do... Thanks! :)

TAL -- I did read the footnote, but the page "looks" like a regular Amazon page. I didn't want you to miss-out any any well-deserved commissions! :D (me sucking up)

It would, the process is invisible to you... That's why I encourage as many people as possible to do it. A lot of them shop at Amazon anyway (even if not for games or books we offer), and it makes no difference if you follow one of the links here to it and at least pay us back a little for all the efforts we're making to keep you peeps happy. ;)

[IMG] I have played BGII and it is VERY good. I have had IWD for ages but only started playing it a few days ago. It has a different feel to either BG or BGII, so don't think that just 'cos you can kick ass in the other 2, you can in this too! Starting at lvl1 makes it harder, and so far I have't found much really good stuff to help my team, not even spells. Make sure you have a couple of good tanks in the team! It is also increasingly expensive to buy resurrection as you increase in level, so be careful! :)
