I'm just wondering, if the time when Baldur's Gate or Pool of Radiance 2: Ruins of Myth Drannor is now considered the "good old days", what is the time of my childhood when I was playing The Bard's Tale and Pool of Radiance of the Gold Box series?

If somebody wants to say "ancient", then what is the time before that when a lot of games came out in the 1970s? I know that is the dawn of personal computing, and it was before my time, although I did get my hands on some of the ancient classics from that era such as Wizardry during the late 1980s.

For the record, my family didn't get a computer until December of 1988.

No idea when I got my first PC. I had a commodore 64 in the late 80s though.

Hmm...Monkey Island had just come out...1990? It was the first PC game that hooked me, I remember. I had that one, Space Quest 2, Summer Games, Street Rod, Hostage...I didnt discover rpgs untill I copied Betrayal at Krondor from a friend (had no clue copying was illegal back then). I followed up by buying Ultima 7, and Quest For Glory 1 and 2. All classic rpgs in my book. Especially the story in the games got me hooked from beginning to end.

For me, it would be something like this:

    Before 1984: Age of Fable.
I know there are games made before 1984, but it's obscure. Like the beginning of time. I know little about it. Rumour has it...

    1984 - 1990: Age of Legends.
Sierra's domination. KQ, SQ, PQ, LSL, QfG, etc. This is when gaming began for me on an Olivetti M24. I learned a lot of English playing these games.

    The 90's: Age of Splendor
LucasArts' Domination. MI-series, S&M, DotT, Grim Fandango etc. Graphics became nice and were not too hyped. Game music was amiable. For me the best time ever when it comes to PC games.

    2000 - 2005: Age of Glory
BioWare ruled my PC with series of BG, IWD, PS:T etc. Roleplaying and strategy combined. Replayability, diversity hooked me up. Great times.

    2005 - today
Age of Nostalgia. I haven't bought any games after NWN. Games were too pimped. I can only long back to the Good Ol' Days...

Damn, Nuhn. We have lived identical lives. When it comes to video games at least. I agree 100 percent with what you said.

I got my 1st PC in 1984 as well. IBM PC JR, 128K. What a machine! Lode Runner, IBM PC Football and IBM PC Pool were the 3 games I started with. Then we moved on into the Infocom realm. Hitchhiker's Guide, Sorcerer Series, Zork, Series with a mix of the Ultima series, M&M series and the SSI AD&D games. Good times!

Ultima 4-7 was fantastic. My favorite was number 7 though, since it was my first one I guess. I remember allways wanting Might and magic 5. Saw it in the stores and such. Left me drooling. But for some reason, whenever i had enough cash to buy it, it was sold out. I got the 6th one in that series though. It was right after it came out (96?). Fantastic game.

The Might & Magic games where freak'in (my own interpretation of the expression) lovely. The last one though, was a bit bad.
