Unfortunately, it's impossible. The loading screens lie (sss, sneaksy loading screenssess, they hates us, hatesss uss my preciousss!). NWN uses 3rd edition rules and BG2 a heavily modified 2nd edition ruleset, so it's difficult to see how this would've been possible in the first place, unless they planned on making NWN 2E originally.

It was planned, but dropped because they couldn't think of any reason to deprive you of not only your items but your experience (since they decided to start you at low level). And with the changeover from 2e to 3e, it would've ended up being about the same as making a new character anyway.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time, and was certainly a good marketing tactic to get BG fans into the "upcoming" Neverwinter Nights title (not to mention is complete false advertising!).

But there's no way anyone could have put too much thought into the idea, as in what RPG is it going to makes sense to start out with a character of god-like proportions? Where does such a character have to go? Start at level 40 and work backwards?

But I guess I can't get too upset. BG is still (likely always will be) my favorite CRPG of all time.

I actually bought NWN on the basis that i could import.

Frankly the whole game was a disappointment and all these years on nothing has come close to BG2.

But then...some years before BG I said the same regarding Eye of the Beholder2 which at the time I considered to be the zenith of RPG's on the PC.

Actually, I think that (removing the incorrect text) could be one of the things fixed by the G3 Fixpack. I'm pretty sure we do it in Unfinished Business, too (or were going to).

i was disappointed to find out i could not import my BG2 Characters. But whatever, i still play both BG2 and NWN. NWN is a good game in it's own right. using the toolset for NWN you can create your own GODLIKE armor/weapons.
